How The Forced Air System Works?
The process begins with the burner that burns away fuel, in the form of oil, gas, wood, or electricity, to generate heat. This heat is then passed through the heat exchanger. The heat exchanger takes in the cold air that is circulating through your home and exchanges it with warm air. Thus, in this way, it is gradually warming your interior living space. The air is then pushed through the air ducts in your home, with the help of the blower. During this entire process, the flue continues to gives off exhaust gases as more and more fuel is burnt.
The forced air system can be used for heating as well as cooling purposes, as the hot air can be forcefully passed over refrigeration coils, which will cool the air before circulating it through the air ducts.
How The Gravity Based Heating System Works?
The gravity based heating system also begins its heating process with a furnace or burner, where fuel is consumed to give off heat. However, rather than forcing this heat through unnatural channels, it is allowed to rise naturally, as hot air is lighter. This heated air is then carried up, straight to the large air vents built in the home, without the need of blowers.
However, this system is only functional for warm air, as cold air sinks down and becomes heavy. Thus, it will not be able to rise and reach the air ducts.
